Sourcely's privacy policies explain how we treat your personal data and protect your privacy when you use our services. By using our services, you agree that Sourcely can use such data in accordance with our privacy policies.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of our services or included software, nor may you reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of that software.
We are constantly changing and improving our services. We may add or remove functionalities or features, and we may suspend or stop a service altogether.
We provide our services using a commercially reasonable level of skill and care and we hope that you will enjoy using them. But there are certain things that we don't promise about our services.
Sourcely will not be responsible for lost profits, revenues, or data, financial losses, or indirect, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages.
These additional terms apply when you use the Sourcely API, the hosted Sourcely MCP server, or connect Sourcely to an AI assistant or other application.
API keys and connected-application tokens are issued to your account and are for your use. Keep them confidential; you are responsible for all requests made with them. You can revoke a key or a connected application at any time on the API and MCP page in Sourcely. We may suspend or revoke access that we reasonably believe is compromised or misused.
You may use the API and MCP server to find, verify and cite academic sources within your own products, research and workflows. You may not use them to build a competing index of academic metadata by bulk-collecting results, to circumvent rate limits, free allowances or abuse controls (for example by creating multiple accounts), to submit content you have no right to process, or to interfere with the service. Results are provided to you for your use; the underlying papers remain subject to their publishers' terms.
Direct API searches are charged to your prepaid credit balance at the cost shown for each search; verification and citation endpoints are currently free. API credits are bought as one-time purchases, including any automatic top-ups you enable. These one-time credit purchases are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash. Searches through the Sourcely MCP server are included in paid Sourcely plans, subject to the plan's search allowance; subscriptions remain governed by our refund policy. Accounts without a plan receive a small number of free MCP searches, which we may change, limit, pause or end at any time. Rate limits apply to every key and account.
When you connect Sourcely to an AI assistant, the assistant acts on your instructions and receives the results of the Sourcely tools. We are not responsible for how an assistant uses, summarizes or presents those results, or for the assistant's own terms and privacy practices. The assistant's output is not Sourcely's output.
Sourcely returns sources, metadata, quotes and citations found with the help of academic databases and AI. We work to make them accurate, but we do not guarantee that every result is complete, current or correctly attributed. Check sources before relying on them in published work.
The API and MCP server are provided as they are, without a guaranteed level of availability. We may change endpoints, tools, limits and prices; we aim to announce changes that are not backward compatible in advance through the documentation at docs.sourcely.net.
We may modify these terms or any additional terms that apply to a service to, for example, reflect changes to the law or changes to our services.
